In year 8 the curriculum builds on the work from year 7. The first half-term's work is based on RS and Citizenship. The scheme of work is called Tribes! and it asks pupils to build their own community. The second half of the Autumn term is spent looking at the place pilgrimage plays in the Hindu and Islamic religions. In the Spring term pupils study different ideas about the creation. The work focuses on Aboriginal ideas, but also uses the internet site bigmyth.com to examine stories from different cultures. The second half of the Spring term examines who Jesus was and how he is represented by religions other than Christianity. Pupils are asked to question whether Jesus was a peacemaker or whether he was a rebel. In order to do this they look at Jesus' teachings and how he spread his message. The first half of the Summer term continues with Jesus as the main theme. This time it looks at the impotance of the resurrection for Christians. The final module of work for the year asks "Why is there suffering in the world?" Autumn Term Spring Term Summer Term "Why is There Suffering in the World?"
